  1. Local Poets.
    James Quinn Fairymount, Kilrooskey Roscommon was a great poet. He taught in Ballagh National School.
    When he was going to get married he composed a song about his intended bride.
    When she died composed another poem in rememberance of his wife.
    Pat Cuffe Clooncagh, Strokestown was a farmers son.
    He went to America at an early age and he had a good position in the Post Office.
    Their poetry was never published or printed only distributed to the people.
    Some of their songs are locally sung by the people.
