    All the neighbouring children attended him and he taught outside when the weather was fine. He had no blackboard in his house and the pupils wrote on slates and sometimes with quills. He had seats arranged in a room for them.
    Master Nearney was teaching in his house in Fairymount from 1867 to 1872. He went to America 1874 and he was teaching in New York for a few years.
    Master Keating was teaching up in a house in Caramoneen from 1884 to 1890 All the bigger boys and girls attended him.
