  1. Marriages take place locally most frequently fin shrove. There are certain months and days thought unlucky for marriages to take place. May is counted an unlucky month to get married. Friday, Saturday or Sunday are counted unlucky days for marriages to take place.
    In my district marriages are generally made and money given with the gentleman or lady as dowry. Stock and goods are given also. When the Bride and Bride-groom are starting for the chapel some-one throws and old shoe after them as a token of good luck.
    A wedding feast is held at the Bride's home and a number of friends belonging to both the Bride and Bride-groom are present there. This feast lasts for
