  1. The local landlord was Mr. Sandford. He lived in the district about one hundred years ago. he was not a very bad landlord. There were no evictions carried out in the district. Mr. Sandford's ancestors were soldiers in the English army and they were placed in the castle of Castlerea and given all the land and farms around it.
    The land was divided under their guidance and the largest portions were given to the protestants.
