  1. A story is told about a giant who lived long ago in my locality There was a very big rock in the land of Tom Freyne, Doon. This giant saw the rock and said it was a fairly large one.
"Well, as big as it is, I wish it was shifted from here" Said Tom. The rock was about ten tons weight. The giant lifted it on its end and dealt it a blow with his fist that split it in two halves.
"Now" said the giant "I will leave this part of it standing here and I will put the other half standing in this field here beyond."
He took one piece and put it standing on its end and gave it a blow of his fist and that drove it four feet into the earth. About four [eight] feet of this rock is still over ground.
He then took the other half and carried it in his hands as if it were only a stone weight.
