- In olden times the people of my district ate three meals daily, breakfast, dinner and supper. They rose at break of day and the men, after spending a few hours working in the fields, returned to their homes and had breakfast. This meal was chiefly porridge and buttermilk.
Dinner was partaken of about mid-day. For dinner had either potatoes and buttermilk or cally which was made of bruised boiled and new milk. They had meat occasionally, but not often.
Late at night they had supper, which consisted of potatoes, salt and milk, or a curog made from oatmeal and milk, or flummery made from the husks of oatmeal, a little(continues on next page)- Collector
