  1. There is a treasure hidden in the West of Tartan. It is not known by whom it was hidden, or why. An old man named Domnick Moran dreamt of that treasure. He began digging for it next day. He had just brought a crock of gold to light when he heard a croaking noise behind him, he looked around and saw a little man about three feet high with a grey tapered beard which reached his toes and large red bushy eyebrows which almost kept him from seeing. In a cracked voice the little man said:- "Beware! Beware!" "Oh sir," said Domnick "I'll be where I ought to be in a minute" and with a heart pounding in his ribs he staggered to his own little home, where he took to his bed and did not leave it for a week. When at last he was able to go out of doors he went to the place where he had done all the digging but the green sod looked as if a spade never was put through it. No one ever had courage to dig for it.
