- Long ago there was an old school in the little village of Point. This little village is just beside Kingsland. There are about six houses in it. This little village is in the fields. The teachers name was Miss Murray. The little house in which she lived is now in ruins. The school was in the house in which she lived. She was known in the neighbourhood as "Biddy". This girl was a good teacher.The little school was not much like the schools of the present day. It was a small little thatched house. There was only one apartment in this little house which was used as kitchen school and all. Here the scholars were taught all their lessons.The teacher was not paid any salary by the government. She was paid one penny by every child on every Monday morning. There were about fifty scholars going to this little school. There was no Irish taught but all the other subjects such as Geography & History were taught. Many of the old people of the villages around went to this school.
