    In Kilmactranny district the local landlord was Sir Edward Goff

    prayer was heard. Not long afterwards the landlord and all who took active part in the eviction died under tragic circumstances.
    His estate was not divided into farms but he employed his tenants, who tilled and cared the land without receiving any payment. During the Land League the estate was divided among his tenants. It has remained in their descendant's possession to the present day.

    In the parish of Keash there was a landlord called Quirke.

    In the parish of Keash there was a landlord called Quirke. He was a bad cruel man, and it is said that during his reign, many died of starvation and of want. If a man repaired his house, he was evicted immediately. The ruins of the houses where evictions were carried out are still to be seen in the parish. One man broke this law by white-washing his house. He was ordered to leave, but he would not obey the landlord. That night he was shot and his wife and children were turned out on the roadside. The parish priest is supposed to have cursed this
