    were made to unearth the treasure.
    Age has now left it's mark on those old tunnels and the entrances are almost closed up. At Lough Key the entrance is like a rabbit hole but in Assylin the tunnel can be entered by a human being.
    Another story is told concerning the old Church on Lough Key. The ruins are now scarcely visible, however there is a mound which can be clearly seen, running from it to the ''Plantation'' which is on the right hand side of the river Boyle.
    Fable tells us that it is in some part of this mound the wealth of the ruin is hidden. This church which was one of Ireland's earliest churches was the richest in the surrounding country.
