  1. When the French landed at Killala the English passed over this way to meet them. On their way they raided houses. An old woman saw them coming, and she was supposed to have a pot of gold. She ran with it and hid it in Donach, but no one knows where it is. Several attempts have been made to find it, but they proved fruitless.
