- (continued from previous page)of a cross. When the cross is complete it is hung over the kitchen door or in one of the out-houses. The old people say that wherever St. Brigid's cross is it will bring good luck.
- On the Eve of the Twelfth night of Christmas some people light rush candles while they are saying the Rosary. Thick rushes are got and peeled and fried on a pan with a piece of butter. Then a plate of wet meal is got and the rush candles are put standing up in it. Every one in the family has a candle of his own and the local people say that the person whose candle quenches the first shall die the first.(continues on next page)
