  1. On the Eve of the Twelfth night of Christmas some people light rush candles while they are saying the Rosary. Thick rushes are got and peeled and fried on a pan with a piece of butter. Then a plate of wet meal is got and the rush candles are put standing up in it. Every one in the family has a candle of his own and the local people say that the person whose candle quenches the first shall die the first.
