In former times people never wore boots before the age of six of six years but some only wore them when going to Mass. There is no account of people who never wore boots in the district. Most of the local children go barefooted in summer but not in winter. No boots are made locally at the present day, but the parents repair the boots for their families.
There is no Shoemaker in the district, and there were only about two in former times. Clogs were made in the district about sixty or seventy years ago They are worn in some places still but not in our district. Leather was made and tanned by a man named, Thomas Kealy who is a native of the district.- Informant
