    was a man named Tom Brennan from the Strand. He died some years ago. He used to work on the roads, but he often worked on the land too when there would be no work on the road.
    He was a very tall man and very strong also. He would make nothing of carrying a big sack of potatoes or oats for a considerable length. Every one knew him as he was a jocose character and went by "Tom the Keg".
    The most powerful weight thrower of the present day that I have heard of is Dr. O.' Callaghan of Tipperary. He excels at hammer and weight throwing.
