1881 there was a severe snow Storm. It lasted over two months and in the month of June it was still to be seen in many places. On the level places it was nearly twelve feet high and in some places the drifts reached fifteen feet. The snow was so heavy on some old houses that they fell under the weight. Many sheep and cows got lost during the snow. There was a man coming from the fair He kept travelling during the snow and it became so high that he lost his way and when the snow cleared away he was found dead.
