    Whelan promised to do as he was asked. He then asked Hogan if he would go to Heaven if all this was done for him. "Oh, Heaven indeed" said H. and vanished.
    Only Whelan saw the ghost; the other two men had heard Whelan talking but heard no reply. All was done for Hogan as promised.
    When Whelan was released he came home all life and energy gone out of him. He moped and fretted and fell into bad health. He was dead before the year was out.
    Many old people of Mrs Dunne's age remember hearing this story many times from their own parents.
