    1. People stay up until after 12 o'clock to hear the bells ringing out the old year (out) and ringing in the new.
    2. When people hear the bells they bless themselves and say a short prayer so that the New Year may bring wealth and health.
    3. The Christmas Candle is again lighted at nightfall.
