  1. (continued from previous page)
Easter Sunday to May day and put them on the thorns of the bush. The May bush is then put standing in the ground in front of the house.
Sometimes it is put on top of a hedge convenient to the house.
The children sometimes carry the may bush around and collect "pennies for the May bush".
2 People get up very early on May day morning at day break and go to any wells on their land and get water from them. This is done so that no one will get water before them from the wells on this day. There is a belief prevalent that if anyone else got water at their wells before them the milk yield of the cows would be affected.
