    man in the townsland of Clonheen by the name of Patrick Byrne. One night a death occurred near his home and it happened that Pat went to the wake. Some part of the night the people were astonished to hear loud crying in some part of the farmyard. The crying resembled that of a child in great trouble. Pat made up his mind to find out who the person was. When he reached the place he was greatly amused to find out that is was an old woman combing her long grey hair as she cried bitterly. Pat stole up and snapped the comb and ran into the house with great delight. The people were terrified to see what he had done knowing well that is was no other but the banshee herself.
    The next night a strange thing happened about the same time. The banshee was sitting on the window still crying more loudly than ever. Pat was in the house to and was terrified
