  1. Fr O' Connells Welll is on the Dublin road a half mile out from Portlaoighise. He came from Tipperary and he was a P.P. priest in Portlaoighise. One evening he went off for a walk around the back of the prison. He stopped and paused and he saw a little spring and he stuck his stick in the spring and then the water started bubbling up in a lot of places. He got it cemented in a ring and after that it was Fr O' Connells
