  1. There was a treasure supposed to have been hidden in a field in Aughavoe outside Mountrath. It is said that the Danes hid the treasure before they were driven out of Ireland. The treasure is suppose to contain swords and war materials. Before the treasure is got one of the men is supposed to be killed that is digging for the treasure otherwise the treasure will not be got. There was a treasure hidden in a rock in Mr. Gillman's field, and there were a number of people looking for the treasure. It had been hidden for a number of years. Mr. Gillman knew where it was hidden. He looked for it and it was hidden
