  1. Noted Springs of pure water are to be found in many districts. At Ballyglishen on the road to Abbeyleix There is a spring of pure water, and people come long journeys to this well to secure pure water.
    Aughfeerish Well in the townland of Ralish is a noted spring well. People go there to be cured of pains etc. In the years of famine 1847 when the people were dying of fever and starvation and milk was scarce
