  1. Over 100 years ago there were two notorious highway robbers in the districts between Ballinakill and Abbeyleix.
    They were Captain Grant and Carol Whelan. They rode on horse back and were armed with pistols. They held up and robbed the rich people whom they knew to possess money.
    They never committed murder as the money was generally handed over to them.They often gave some of their loot
