    and through the stormy times in the 16th. & 17th. centuries they still continued their existence there. In the 18th. century it was called by the peasantry of the place Cullenagh-
    more House.
    This estate of the Barringtons in Cullenagh was finally sold to Sir John Parnell, an ancestor of Ch. S. Parnell, and when the Barringtons left their family mansion the catholic agent of Sir John lived in it and fitted up a small chapel in the hamlet of Cullenagh for the accomodation of himself and the catholic tenants.
    Some time afterwards Sir John sold the estate to John Tolir, the well known Lord Norbury whose descendants afterwards held it in possession, and Sir John with his agent resided nearer to Portlaoighse at Sheffield Cross.
    On the side of the White Mt. as we have learned is the small townsland of Kilwhelan. Here, it was, that one of the earliest
