  1. Monument crosses or lone bushes by the road side mark the spot where an accident occurred in which some person was killed.
On the road at Cranny's in Ballypickas leading from Ballinakill to Timahoe a lone bush marked the spot where Richard Dowling was killed in the year 1860.
He was driving home from the market in Abbeyleix when his horse took fright and turned the car pinning him underneath.
The County Council had this bush removed as it obstructed the view.
