  1. I heard about the Black Pit from Patrick Holohan, Castlecool, Ballinakill, Leix. He is a workman. He was born in Brandra. He spent his life there. He remembers the battle himself. About forty years ago.
    He was about seventeen years of age about that time. He was living in Brandra, Ballinakill, Leix. I wrote the story in this book on the 29th December 1937.
