Long ago there was a rath on Phelan's land in Thourtane. The old people saw the washing out belonging to the fairies and saw them hurling out in the rath. To this day there are lights seen going in and out through the rath.

Once upon a time a crowd of men started to play cards. ...

Once upon a time a crown do men started to play cards. They played all day Sunday and did not go to Mass. At six o'clock that evening a man came in and started to play. Some of the cards fell and one of the men picked them up and threw them outside the door, because he saw a pig's foot on the man and saw he was the devil.
