  1. There is a stone in Gort na gCloc called the Grey Stone. It is a great stone standing upright on a little hillock to the south side of Glenkit. Long ago in the Penal times Mass was celebrated on this great stone. It is usually called the "Mass Stone"
    The stone is between four and five feet in height. The mark of the Mass Book and Chalice are cut into the stone. In one of these cut out shapes the Mass Book was laid, and in the other the Chalice was laid.
    The stone can still be seen and is standing in the centre of the highest field in Gort na gCloc. The shape of the Mass Book and Chalice are still to be seen quite distinctly cut into the stone.
    Long ago there were thirty-two houses built in Gort na gCloc, and each one of those houses were inhabited. These houses it seems fell from time to time and this is why the place is so stony. It also gives the name Gort na gCloc to the place.
