On the Ridge road between Maryborough and Mountmellick there is a mysterious chest to be seen in a cave in an oak tree.The locks,though rusty,are quite visible on it.Men working in the vicinity made several attempts to reach this chest but owing to the foul air that surrounds it no one can come within fifty yards of it, It is in such a secluded place no one would notice it without someone drawing their attention towards it. Men who are working near it tell this story.Perhaps in years to come someone may devise some plan to secure the chest and find
