  1. Gurteen is in the parish of Rosenallis, in the barony of Tinnahinch in the county Laoighis. There are nine families and twenty nine people living in it. There are nine houses in it. Four are tiled and five are thatched. There are two people over seventy years of age. Their names are Dennis Daly and Patrick Kilbride. This townland got its name from the Irish for it means "The little tilled field". The land is good. Davis is the family name most common.
