  1. The treasure is supposed to be hidden in Finlay's field in the town land of Gurteen, in the parish of Rosenallis in the County Laoighise. It was placed there by the work men of a distillery in the year 1649 the time that Cromwell was in Ireland. When the owner of the distillery heard that Cromwell's "Iron sides" were coming to rob the distillery. He got the work men to make a big pit and they burned about one thousand puncheons of whiskey. Attempts have been made to unearth it by different people. But it is said that they did not dig deep enough. The ruins of two wall of the distillery are to be seen yet.
