  1. There is a castle in athy called Whites castle. In that castle Normans used to live. There was a very big ape in the castle and one day it happened that the castle went on fire. In one of the rooms a small baby was in a deep slumber. It was roused by the smell of the smoke and started shouting. The ape hearing the cries started to climb up the stairs to the room in which the little child was. He wrenched open the door of the room and carried her to the window and jumped down, to land in a clump of bushes. Neither the child nor the ape were injured.
