The people in the old times got the fat of a pig and melted it down then they went and got cotton and made it like twine then rolled up the fat and put the string of cotton down throught it before it got hard. Then they would put up the soft fat in pieces of cloth for a few days. When they would take it down off the shelves it would be hard and they would take take off the cloth and they would have a candle
