- There was once an old man named Loughman who lived near an old rath near Mageaney. This rath was supposed to be inhabited by the fairies. The old man knew the rath very well. And one night about twelve years ago he went across to a neighbour's house. And coming to the rath could not find the gate he knew so well. And out of the rath he could not get until daylight came.
