  1. Briens Rath is in Blackwood towns land. It is owned by Patrick Brien Moatfield Athy. It is about four miles north of Athy. It is not a big rath. The rath is surrounded by a bank and big trees. There are about fifty trees in it including hazel trees. Patrick Brien who ownes the field that the rath is in cut a ditch in it and every time he went near the rath at night he saw ten or eleven lights. After a few months when the ditch grew up he could not see anything.
