    There is a rather celebrated holy well in this district called Tubberarra.
    (Tobar-Bhearbha) probably means the well on the Barrow, as it is situated near the river Barrow and the stream flowing from the well enters the Barrow.
    Now this well is situated about three miles North of the town of Athy on the eastern bank of the Barrow. It is partly in the centre of a cemetery. This cemetery is a very old one, and all the descendants of the oldest families of the district are interred in it.
    There are ruins of an old monastery in the centre of the churchyard and about 30 yards from the centre is the well.
    In my memory an ancient ash tree stood at the edge of the well and just beside its trunk you could see the beautiful clear
