- There are three forges in the parish, Messers Kelly, Myers, and Ffrench.
Myers situated on country road-side in Mile-Mill, the other two in Kilcullen, situated near the river Liffey.
Our forge has a flat roof and two half-doors with a horse-shoe on the top half. There is one big fireplace in it. The smith shoes horses, asses, and makes and ,mends farm implements.
Wheels are shod in the open air, by the side of a river. Smiths were always supposed to be very strong. There is an old forge in White-hall, about two miles from Kilcullen which is never used.- Collector
