Sometimes when cattle are scarce buyers go to farmers houses to contract their business.
Fairs are said to be held in Old Kilcullen, Calverstown and also in town of Kilcullen but now they have discontinued because there is no way of conveying the anmals away.
Generally when beasts are sold the seller gives the buyer back five or ten shillings as which is called "Luck Money.
When a bargain has been made the seller would sometimes want about ten shilling more than the buyer would agree to give, the a decision is made to split the difference.
When an animal is sold a hole is made in his ear or a mark is made to show the animal is sold.
