    The Mass Bush.
    Tradition tells us that Mass used be said in the Penal days on the site of where Killenard Church now stands. It is just a few perches from Mount Saint Ann's Convent. Where Mount Saint Ann's is now it was called Mount Henry that time. There was a Protestant landlord living in it by the name of Smyth. He took notice of one of his maid servants going away by stealth. By her movements he found that she was going to hear Mass at the Mass bush. He was a good sort of a man because he granted the site of the Catholic church which stands there at the present day.
