It is said that long ago on May-day and during the first thre days of May it was dangerous for the cattle to be out in the fields because during that time the fairies had great power.
2 And it is said also that the threshold is to be swept clean and ashes sprinkled over it, and in the morning you will see foot-prints on the threshold. If the foot-prints are inward a marriage is to take place, and if outward a death will take place in the house before the year is out.
