  1. About ten or eleven years ago a small round hollow stone with a hole in the middle of it was found on Duffy's Farm at Mountrise.
    The mark of the persons four fingers and thumb by whom it was worked was worn into it by constant use.
    This stone or quern was used for grinding wheat, and was worked by the hand. There is none of them in existence now, as they were not wanted, when we got the mills. It is said that they were used before the time of St Patrick.
