- Once upon a time when the English conquered Ireland there were two men hung up on a tree at Knox's Corner, and an ancient relative of Dick Smyth's was in hiding and he cut down the men from the tree as the invaders were gone. Those two people were never the same from that on.
One of them was blind and neither of them had their speech from that on.
- It is said that once when the Irish soldiers were fighting against the English that they were defeated and driven to the top of Knockaulin Hill. The English soldiers surrounded the hill and tried to starve the Irish soldiers. The Irish seeing no other way to escape(continues on next page)
