  1. In this district a story is told of Fionn Mac Cumhaill when he lived on the Hill of Allen. It is said that he as fought a giant for three whole days but one could not get the better of the other. In the end they decided to throw two stones, and whoever threw the farther was to win. Fionn's stone landed in Punchestown and the giant's in Osbourne's field, and so Fionn won.

    St. Patrick's well is situated near Killashee convent. On St. Patrick's day a lot of people from around Naas go there. It is said that the water cured pains. Many sick people go there. people leave money and medals there. Once the nuns took the money and the well dried up.
