- (continued from previous page)Rats, flies, bees and all such pests remain in their nests if rain is near at hand. They sleep during damp weather and come out from their hiding places when the sun shines.
If the chimney puffs and won't draw the smoke we may expect rain. - Sometimes you may notice a dark ring around the Moon, which people say is a sign of rain. The rainbow is an arc of beautiful colours, and it is said that God sent the rainbow as a message of hope to the people on this earth, that the earth would never again be destroyed by flood.
The South and West winds bring most rain. When we see swallows flying low we can be sure that rain is about to fall. Sometimes the cat is noticed to sit with his back to the fire. This is a sign of rain. If you see a dog eating grass, you may expect wet weather.
