  1. The Blackbird.

    This bird is with us all the year around.
    The male bird is glossy black with an orange bill and eye rims, blackish legs and dark brown...
    The female is dark brown with a pale throat and breast streaked with black and white spots on the lower breast. Her bill and legs are dark brown.
    This bird does not sing until February and in July the birds cease one by one and seldom sing again after the moult. A few snatches of song may be heard on exceptionally mild days in December and January. Autumn song are rare.
    This bird does a great deal of harm by stealing the early fruits
