    It was quite common for cows to bewitched during the month of May. Some person who wished the family ill could throw a spell over the herd. Sometimes drove the milk from them entirely, other times no matter how long or carefully churned no butter could be got from the milk.
    One cure for this.
    Boil the herb called barvine and rinse all the vessels with it.
    One other cure.
    Go to south running water and throw three drops southward in the Name of God, the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost.
