  1. This townland is in the Parish of Ematris, Barony of Dartrey.
    It is divided into ten small farms averaging 25 acres each.
    It probably got its name from a large double fort which stands on the highest part of the townland and which is said to be an Irish acre in area. The two rings are perfectly preserved and people in the townland say there are very few of its particular kind in Ireland.
