  1. We grow potatoes every year some in the fields and what we sometimes call "an early pot" in the garden.
    The area of ground under potatoes does not vary very much from year to year but as the fields are not all the same size and as each field is nearly always planted, through and through on turn it happens that if the field be larger one year than another that the area under potatoes varies accordingly.
    In some seasons if the weather is suitable in early Spring the farm-yard manure is drawn out and spread on the ground
