    Master Farmer no Former -
    Summer time plank round hedge
    mixed school - So when Former came to school each morning he had a long rod and beat every one on legs first

    Pupils brough 2 turf each each day, he could make pen out of stalk of wheat
    beautiful writer - a poor scholar came - finishing education - has spoon in cap - each scholar had to take him for week. So when playtime came they played hound and hare in Gortmore Bog.
    (?) of Killadonelly was 'hare', he could jump 21' long jump
    a lot of great scholars came from Gortmore.
    Taught Latin, Geography - wrote on slates - roasted potatoes for his food - he'd say to pupils
    you keep writing and I'll keep roasting, you keep reading and I'll keep toasting
