  1. The road from Loughnagerghiman to Rathmore (past Canon Hackett's Residence) where it joins the main Carrickmacross road to Castleblayney was built in 1837 or rather made.
    The workmen were paid four pence a day - out of which they fed themselves.
    The road from Corrygarry to Crossmaglen, along by Tullyard was built 101 years ago or in 1837.
    The workmen were paid at the rate of four pence a day out of which they fed themselves.
    The road (or hill at Ballytrain) was cut in 1847 and the workmen were paid at the rate of four pence a day out of which they fed themselves.
    The river at foot of Paddy Callan's field which runs by Kate Callan's house (behind it) into the bog was cut in the year 1847 - under the Public Work's Scheme - over which in this district "Home Rule Armstrong" was in charge.
    Robert Armstrong or "Home Rule" as he was called was very popular with the inhabitants
